Golf has become very popular in Vallarta. There are a number of excellent golf courses near the villas.

Area Courses
FLAMINGOS GOLF CLUB -BUCERIAS, NAYARIT: This course designed by Percy J Clifford is located just 12 miles north of Puerto Vallarta. The facility also offers a driving range and putting green. There have been many improvements on this course and the club house. If you have not played here in awhile check it out it is much improved.
Greens fees $95.00 USD per person 18 holes, cart included, twilight rates are $60.00. Transportation from the Sheraton in Puerto Vallarta is included. Pick up times 7:30am & 10:30 am only. Reservations are not necessary but is a good idea during the high season. Tel. 01(329)296-5006
ISLA NAVIDAD - MANZANILLO / BARRA DE NAVIDAD, COLIMA - MARINA & RESORT: 3 hour drive south of Puerto Vallarta. Three 9-hole courses, with an unusually long ocean frontage. Elegant hotel and clubhouse. These courses were designed by Robert Hagge. The greens fees are $161.00 USD per person for 18 holes, includes a cart for 2 persons.

LA VISTA CLUB DE GOLF: La Vista is located about 3 miles from Marina Vallarta towards the mountains - north of the airport enter on the street leading to the main bus station or you can also turn at the street by the bull ring then follow the signs. Now open is a 18 hole course designed by Jack Nickaus, and the club house and restaurant. By the first of the year 2002 an 18 hole course designed by Tom Weiskopf will open. Bobby Heine, Construction Director for Club Corp, forecasts that these two courses will comprise "the best golf complex in Latin America," and he predicts that "Puerto Vallarta will become one of the top 50 golf destinations in the world in record time.
Greens fees are $125.00 (from Dec. 22 - April 16 $160.00 ) per 18 holes cart included. Twilight rates are $85.00 including a cart (begins at 2:00). Reservations required call 290-0040 or 290-0030. The golf pro is KC Krandel and the teaching pro is Sean.
MARINA GOLF CLUB - PUERTO VALLARTA: Located at Marina Vallarta. A 10 minute drive from downtown. Designed by American golf architect Joe Fingers. Facility includes a driving range, putting green and pro shop. Green fees are $105.00 USD (Nov-Dec) $130.00 USD (Jan- April per person for 18 holes, includes cart. MAYAN PALACE - NUEVO VALLARTA: The Mayan Palace course was designed by Jim Lipe of Jack Nickaus Associates. The project is slated to open in stages with the first 14 holes ready in December 2001.
PARADISE VILLAGE - NUEVO VALLARTA: Under construction due to open winter of 2002. An 18 hole course designed by Ernesto del Castillo, working with North Amercian Landscape Architects. The course will feature seven artificial lakes with two holes set on small islands with a theme of Mayan artifacts. Grand Opening Celebrations Feb. 2002. 226-6770, 226-6739
PUNTA MITA GOLF CLUB AT THE 4 SEASONS HOTEL - PUNTA DE MITA: 1 hour north of the airport. This Jack Nicklaus designed course is a private club. Play is by special invitation only. However you may play with advanced arrangements between your golf club and the Punta de Mita golf club. You will need a letter of introduction from your club in order to make reservations. To telephone from the US 011-52(329)291-6000 the golf pro's name is Sam Logan. It is also a good idea to bring a letter from your club with you. I will need a copy of your letter of introduction. On the 3rd hole you chip across to an island and then take a boat across to play the green.
TAMARINDO - CAREYES, JALISCO: 2 1/2 hour drive south of Puerto Vallarta. Described as a "Unique Golf Experience". The last 3 holes overlook the ocean. Green fees are $150.00 USD per person for 18 holes. Caddies are required minimum charge $25.00 USD Club rental is an additional charge. There is a hotel and also beach front villas available to rent. Reservations from Puerto Vallarta 01(315)351-5032, 34 or 36. There is a "Golf Package" air flight available from Puerto Vallarta. The cost per person including green fees is $345.00 USD.
