Picture this: at the end of a long flight, your captain announces that you’re beginning your final approach to Kona International Airport. Excited, you look out the window and find yourself absolutely in awe of the clear blue-green color of the water and the picturesque mountains in the distance. After landing and disembarking, you’re greeted with an “Aloha” and a fresh lei draped around your shoulders.

However, while Hawaii is arguably most famous for her natural beauty and “spirit of aloha”, America’s 50th state has so much more to offer visitors. 

The Big Island

The island of Hawai’I, referred to as “The Big Island” by locals and tourists alike, is home to a wide range of activities. Hilo, the island’s largest city, offers small island charm with a big city feel, for a place that’s uniquely Hawaiian. For those preferring a vibe that’s more “strictly island”, Hawai’I is home to many world-class beaches, including Hapuna Beach, Kahaluu Beach, Laaloa Beach, and Onekahakaha Beach. In search of something a little different? Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the place for you. And when the sun starts to set, take in a traditional Hawaiian torchlighting and hula Show at Kuhio Beach.

Oahu

In addition to being home to Hawaii’s capital city of Honolulu, Oahu is also a rich bastion of history. There, you can tour the historic US naval base Pearl Harbor, famous for its role in America’s entry into World War II. Nature enthusiasts will be right at home here, with Diamond Head Crater offering some of the most breathtaking views you’ll ever see. And that’s not all — Oahu boasts a vibrant marine ecosystem, making for some of the best snorkeling, scuba diving, and shark diving on earth. 

Maui 

The natural wonders continue on the island of Maui, where the Hana Highway winds up the scenic coast, and is considered one of the most beautiful stretches of road on the planet. Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime snorkeling adventure in Molokini Crater, where, if you’re lucky, you might get to swim with the endangered Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle! Cap it all off with an aerial view on one of Maui’s renowned helicopter tours, and end the night with a luxury Maui luau for a true island experience like no other.

Kauai 

Famous for its towering mountains and rushing waterfalls, there’s no better way to see Kauai than from the air, and during an hour-long sightseeing flight aboard a new GA8 Airvan plane, you’ll take in much of the breathtaking scenery this island has to offer.
