As one of the most exquisite isles in the West Indies, Antigua makes a natural selection for vacationers interested in booking luxury villas in the Caribbean. With a wealth of cultural and natural attractions abound in the area, Antigua has a lot to offer vacationers who enjoy active pursuits, and if you're hoping to spend your time on the island hiking to beautiful sites, then a trip to the Devil's Bridge should be first on the agenda.
Located just outside of Indian Town in eastern Antigua, the Devil's Bridge is a natural wonder that vacationers will definitely want to visit. This limestone archway was carved out of the solid rock by the rushing waters of the Caribbean, forming a unique landmass that travelers have been flocking to since the area was constituted as a National Park in the 1950's.
The site gained its name due to the dangerous and powerful torrents that helped erode the limestone in the first place. Sammy Smith, a 104-year old Antiguan Patriot told the local tourism board that "the waters around Devil's Bridge [are] always rough and anyone [that falls] over the bridge [will] never come out alive." This unique feature has lent the area a somewhat dark history, but it's impressive qualities far outweigh its questionable past.
Braver travelers can also explore the area's natural "blowholes," intricate sea caves that blast powerful gushes of water high into the air during serious weather conditions. These bursts of water can be quite strong, so it's not recommended that children go near these formations during their visit to the Devil's Bridge.
After some time on the cliffs, you can enjoy some of the natural beauty that has made Antigua one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean. Within walking distance of the site is an excellent golden sand beach that is perfect for swimming, relaxing or soaking in the sun.
Of course, vacationers in Antigua could also kick back at their luxury vacation rentals, where fantastic amenities and stunning scenery highlight some of the best features of this tropical paradise. Whether it's soothing spa and massage treatments, rousing games of tennis or simply relaxing by the pool, travelers who rent luxury villas will be able to experience the best that the region has to offer.
